My Favorite Christmas Memory

I have a favorite story from yesterday that I just have to get written down so that I never forget it. My son got a Beatmix Bumblebee from Santa. It's a Transformer that responds to sounds and music. One of its features is that it will randomly record five second bits of whatever it "hears" going on around it. One of the things it recorded was me trying to get my youngest daughter, JyJy, to sit and eat a turkey sandwich. This is how the conversation went:

Me: "JyJy"
Her: "What?"
Me: "Do you want some turkey on a roll?"
Her: "No. I not hungry"

Well, Beatmix Bumblebee decided to repeat me about 15 minutes later, but JyJy had no idea it wasn't actually me.

Bumblebee: "JyJy"
Her: "What"
Bumblebee: "Do you want some turkey on a roll?"
Her: "No. I said I not hungry"

We were all laughing. It was great. A little while after this, I finally got her to sit and eat turkey on a roll. As she is eating, this is what happens:

Bumblebee: "JyJy"
Her: "What?"
Bumblebee: "Do you want some turkey on a roll?"
Her: (sounding confused) "But it's already on da woll!"

It was so funny. She just wasn't used to my voice coming from anywhere but me!

Today we are trying to clean up the effects of two days of not lifting a finger. Not the funnest. I did enjoy going to Target this morning, though. I love hitting their half off after Christmas sale. Here are a couple pages I did last night.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I hope you all are having a wonderful Christmas! We had a great morning. We went to visit family last night and managed to head up right before a big snowstorm and head home right after. I was so grateful because I had worried that we would miss the festivities or that the driving would be dangerous, but it all went well. We got home around 8 and the kids went right to bed!

The kids got us up at 7:15. Not too bad! This was the first year that we had the kids take turns opening presents. It was so fun! My son passed out the gifts, since he can read now, and we started with the youngest opening first. I thought it was nice to have the slower pace and have the kids take the time to see what the others got and who the gifts were from. They have been happily playing all day long. I even got a nice winter nap! Here are some pics from this morning.

New Cute Pics

We had a nice relaxing day. We took the kids to see Enchanted, which happens to be a great movie. We all really enjoyed it. Then we went to Quiznos and got some of their new "sammies". Oh, Yum! You've got to try them. I'm sure they're horrible for you, but they're so yummy! Only 2 more days to go! Can't wait! I know this is totally silly, but one of the reasons I'm excited is because I want some new pictures to scrap with. All of my favorite digital stores are having sales right now for Christmas so I have all of this adorable stuff I'm just itching to work with and no new photographs to use them with. Crazy, I know. It's just so fun and relaxing for me to sit at the computer and design something. Here is the page I did tonight of my daughter #2's preschool Christmas program. Most of these items were part of a free colab kit, so if you're into digital scrapbooking, check out these links for some great freebies!

5 Days Left!

Can you believe it? The big day is almost here. Yay! Daughter #2 had a preschool Christmas program tonight and she was soooo cute! She had a little speaking part and they sang some songs. She did all of the typical little-kid-on-stage stuff like saying "Hi, Mom!" and asking her teacher a question really loudly during the program. She squatted down for a while and then turned around backwards to watch the other kids. So cute and fun to watch. We've got pictures but my husband will have to transfer them over at work tomorrow and then we can post some for you all.

Today we went out to eat lunch with friends and I spent a big part of the morning deciding on a Christmas craft to do with daughter #1's class at school tomorrow. The original idea given to me by the room mom was to do the candy cane reindeer with the googly eyes and pom-pom noses. Well, I went to the craft store and they were all out of every item I needed in every color as well. So, since I was at the craft store I picked up the items I needed to do this project (below). I got this idea from www.beckyhiggins.com and just had to try it. When in Rome, right?

Anyway, it was fun to do and didn't cost much. As for the class craft, we are going to make snowmen out of marshmallows (using icing as "glue"). They'll have orange tic tac noses and red hot buttons, mini m&m eyes, licorice mouths, and a hat made out of a gumdrop wreath and a taffy. Hope it goes ok, it sure was a pain rounding up all of the stuff. I guess when every elementary classroom in the state is having a Christmas party on the same day I should expect the stores to be out of the standard craft supplies!

Wii are so lucky!

Last week at my husband's work party he won a Wii! So fun! We've been playing with it all weekend, mostly Harrison. My arms are sore from moving the remotes around!

Yay! A cute banner!

I found this great blog header at http://www.shabbyprincess.com/. So fun! I need to learn more about customizing my blog. As you can see, I figured out how to post the header, but the old one is still behind it. I guess that's what computer-guru husbands are for. I can't wait for him to fix it so that it looks right! I love the brown behind my text and pictures, too. It really makes the layouts look so much brighter. Fun, fun. I'm such a geek!

The things kids say

One of the reasons I am writing this blog is to serve as a journal of sorts. I plan on printing out the entries once in awhile to keep in a binder. Not only is it a good history of my life, but of my family's too and I don't normally do so good at keeping record of those things.

Anyway, I was reminded by my husband the other day of a cute story about my son, so I'll go ahead and share and get it written so we won't forget it.

My husband's father drinks soda all the time. Not the kind with caffeine, but Squirt, Root Beer, you name it. My son asked him about it once (this was about a year ago) and Grandpa proceeded to tell him about how he didn't get soda very often when he was a kid. Then he started telling my son a quite detailed story about the special times that he had gotten soda during his childhood. You could tell that my son had heard enough and only wanted to escape and play. So, mid-Grandpa-sentence, my son says "Well, your soda dream has come true!" and took off into the other room. It was great. He can be so funny. He is such a great kid. Sweet, smart, funny, and sensitive. What more could a mother want?

Furry Friends

It's been fun seeing Mr. Whiskers and Smuckers develop a little relationship. They play for most of the day. If they aren't "fighting" like you see in the pictures on this layout, they are chasing each other around. They were going so fast and furious today that they knocked over my poor daughter #2 who was not happy at all.
My major project today was making truffles to take around to the neighbors. We read a couple of Christmas stories as a family and then we all went house to house taking around the treats. I hope my children are feeling the true spirit of Christmas. I can't wait for the big day! I get more excited about seeing the kids open their gifts than I am about my own. Fun, fun!

Not much to tell

There's not much to tell about today, but it's been a couple of days since I posted. Today the kids sang in a Christmas program at their school. Sorry, no good pictures for you. I caught a glimpse of both of them, but taking a picture was impossible with my three year old at my side and a bunch of tall people sitting in front of me. However, they were cute and did a great job. I got to bring them home right afterwards. We went to Fazoli's with Kyle to have lunch together and then we just hung around the house. I got some presents wrapped and under the tree. That was fun. While I was doing the wrapping I put the movie "Coming Home" in to watch. I posted about this a bit ago. It's a movie version of a book I really enjoyed. Needless to say, the movie sucks. There's hardly any character development and they change the story in alot of ways that don't make sense. Oh, well. At least I got it on Ebay and not Amazon! Have a great weekend everybody!

P.S. If anyone besides my great friends Christina or Kari stop by, leave a comment--it would make my day! (Christina and Kari, yours already do!)

Pinecones and Feline Antics

Well, I'm still on my creative roll. I got this great idea for ornaments from http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/. I think I'll keep a few and hand out some to the ladies I visit for church. I love the way they turned out!

Mr. Whiskers has had a very busy day. He spent the majority of the day playing with Smuckers. I am so glad that Smuckers has someone to play with now! When he was done doing that, he decided to climb the Chrismas tree and play with the ornaments. I thought it was pretty cute and took pictures, but from now on we'll have to chase him out because he is bending the limbs an messing up the ribbon and decorations.

My son was home sick today--nothing serious. We got Pirates of the Carribean 3 at Blockbuster and picked up a lunch for him at Burger King. They have super cute I-Dog toys right now. He usually misses our lunches out because I normally go with my friends while he's at school.
